Bushnell has been the #1 rangefinder in golf for a long time, and with good reason. Great customer service, great optical quality, durable construction and premium features have always made the brand stand out. It’s also the one the pros reach for the most, with more than 98 percent of the PGA Tour using a Bushnell rangefinder during their practice rounds. The problem is that they have four models to choose from. So which one should you really buy?
Let’s find out from the least to the most expensive.
Bushnell A-1 Slope – Small, efficient, rechargeable
The Bushnell A-1 Slope is the smallest form factor in the line, but it still contains everything you need from a rangefinder. Inside the box, you’ll receive an optional rangefinder sleeve that incorporates the Bushnell BITE magnet found in their more expensive models. This allows a user to attach the rangefinder to the rails on a cart, or, if the golfer walks, on an iron head.

The A-1 Slope has a 6x magnification viewfinder that will lock in up to 350 yards away and includes a function to calculate distance with the slope. You can turn the slope calculation function on and off in the device menu, but there is no physical switch on the unit to indicate the slope function is on or off. It also includes a physical Pinseeker Jolt vibration, so you know when you’re locked up.
The A-1 Slope is also the only one in the line that is rechargeable via USB-C.
Bushnell Tour V7 Shift – Your accountability friend
U Tour V7 Shift it’s the first step up from the A-1, and it’s the first that “looks” like a typical Bushnell rangefinder. The great features of the Shift include an OLED screen, which is exclusive to this model, as well as a Range Recall function that reveals the last distance you measured, which is good for those times when your partner distracts you and, when you return to the cart, you forget what distance you just measured. That happens to me a lot, and the reminder function in the V7 Shift has become very useful.
The new Tour V7 Shift offers Bushnell Golf’s patented Tour-trusted Slope Technology in a compact, competition-ready design. Featuring a newly engineered two-color OLED display (red and green) with Slope First Technology, the V7 Shift delivers crystal clear meters in any lighting condition, so you can play with total confidence. Key Features Slope-Switch Technology Get distances compensated for elevation changes when you want, and easily switch to a USGA compliant mode for tournament play. Multicolor OLED display Red or green bright display settings increase contrast and clarity depending on lighting conditions. PinSeeker with Visual JOLTFeel the vibration and see the red ring flashing when you close on the flag, eliminating doubt and increasing confidence. Yardage Range Recall Instantly pull your last yardage distance by pressing the Mode button. LINK-Enabled Technology Powered through a partnership with Foresight Sports, LINK integrates your custom launch monitor data to deliver stock yardages and club tips right on the display. Compact, precise, and Tour proven, the Tour V7 Shift is built for players who demand precision, both in competitive grinding and distances during practice rounds.

The V7 Shift features the same 6x magnification as the A-1 Slope, but this time, it extends to 500 yards of blocking capability. The V7 Slope also gives a Visual Jolt indication in the viewfinder when it is locked on the pin, on top of the physical Jolt vibration. On the V7 Shift, you’ll get a physical slope lock switch on one side of the unit, and a built-in BITE magnet on the other.
The V7 Shift is too LINK activatedwhich means you can connect to the Bushnell app and use information from a Bushnell launch monitor or Foresight on your bag, and have that companion information on your display outside the course. It’s a really nice way for players at a higher level to stay very connected to the performance of the clubs and maintain consistency with that performance depending on where they travel, and changes that are made to other parts of their game.

Bushnell Tour Hybrid – Bringing GPS to the table
The Tour Hybrid steps up from the Tour V7 Shift with a slightly larger frame and many of the same features as the Tour V7 Shift, but with added GPS functionality. It’s not LINK enabled, but it gives you slope adjusted distances (unless it’s disabled) and a front, middle and rear distance right in the viewer.
Tour Hybrid revolutionizes the way golfers access distance information by allowing them to experience Slope distances like never before.

This is really useful for golfers who like to be very particular about their distance control. If you shoot a flag, for example, at 183 yards, it might not be easy to know how much space you have in front of or behind that flag. If you are between clubs at that distance, it is nice to know where you have the most green to play. By having accurate front, middle and back distances, you can see what the best miss is and choose a better club before you even try to execute a shot. The slope distances shown in the viewer are also slope adjusted.
The Tour Hybrid has the same 6x magnification and 500-yard flag lock-on as the V7 Shift. It also carries the physical switch of the lock slope, the BITE magnet and the enhanced visual JOLT in the display when it is locked on the pin.
Bushnell Pro X3+ LINK – The tour level experience
U LINK Pro X3+ is the king of the castle in the line of Bushnell rangefinders. It’s the one you’ll see tour players and caddies using more often than the flagship offering from the brand. The Pro X3+ LINK throws you the kitchen sink of features.
It is LINK enabled, which means you have access to MyBag information in the Bushnell app connected to a launch monitor, but it also has some unique features that help you play your best golf wherever you are. The nicest thing — which I discovered recently while playing golf with Tour pro Eric Cole at Scottsdale National — is that you can set your home elevation.
Inside the rangefinder, it will calculate what your “home distance” is once you shoot the pin. So if you’re playing golf in Denver but live in Jupiter, Fla., it will give you the flat distance as shot in Colorado, but it will also give you the “Florida” distance. I cannot overstate how much easier this makes club selection when traveling. Of course, this isn’t a tournament legal feature, but it’s great for casual play and is something Tour players and caddies use during practice rounds to help formulate a game plan.
Perfect Precision: Next Level Performance with Wind. Pro X3+ is the most powerful and accurate laser rangefinder to date – packing all the market-leading innovations you’ve come to expect from the no. 1 in Golf.

The Pro X3+ LINK also takes into account the conditions in which you are playing, including slope calculations that factor in the elements you are playing and wind speed and direction.
With the MyBag connection, the calculation of the elevation of the house, the slope with the elements and the calculation of the wind, choosing the wrong club is just to make sure that you do not confuse your 9-iron with your 6-iron upside-down.
Which one belongs in your bag?
The way I see the Bushnell line is that it gets progressively more specific. As you go from the A-1 Slope to the V7 Shift, you get a lock slope switch, more lock-on capability and some LINK functionality. From the V7 Shift to the Tour Hybrid, you bring GPS features, which are more important for players who can work on navigating a course rather than just getting distances. From the Tour Hybrid to the Pro X3+ LINK, you bring in the complete preparation package, incorporating every data point you need to prepare for the big moment.
Bushnell has a stacked list for golfers, and there’s sure to be one out there that fits your budget and needs.
