this weekend, WXV Global Series and WXV Global Series Challenger will be underway, bringing 18 leading women’s international teams into action.
The WXV Global Series sees the top 12 teams in the world – Australia, Canada, England, France, Italy, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, USA and Wales – play each other in an inter-regional home-and-away touring model in an eight-week global window.
The first WXV Global Series Challenger event takes place at Kai Tak Sports Park, home to Fiji, Hong Kong, China, Netherlands, Samoa, Spain and Brazil they will play three games each.
Between now and Female Rugby World Cup 2029, which will be hosted in Australia, will see 100 Test matches played. The event is played one year after the success Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2025, when record attendance and television viewing figures were recorded.
Qualification for the 2029 Women’s Rugby World Cup is also on offer through the WXV Global Series event.
Australia, England, Canada, New Zealand and France have also qualified for the tournament, with eight teams eligible for a place in the 2027 regional competitions, while the top two ranked teams at the end of the 2027 international period will also qualify.
The final date for the 2029 Women’s Rugby World Cup will be determined at the 2028 WXV Global Series Challenger event.
