Before Wyndham Clark won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in May, he had missed the cut in the previous week’s PGA Championship and dropped to 75th in the World Ranking. Now? It is fifth.
A lot has changed since that missed cut at the PGA, and Clark closed the season with three wins and bumped himself into the conversation for PGA Tour Player of the Year. After his victory at the Nelson, he also took victories in the US Open and the BMW Championship.
The last one Podcast subpar with hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz recap the 2026 PGA Tour season, including Clark’s bounce-back year.
“He’s had a really tough, I’d say two years, a year and a half to two years,” said Knost, “and having to deal with everything he had to face at Shinnecock, to get the win and put his name in the hat for Player of the Year, and then win BMW. And look at the people he beats…”
“And the places he wins,” Stoltz said.
Knost added that his last two wins have come while in the final pairings with Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
“He’s going up against the big dogs; he’s one of the big dogs,” Knost said, before joking, “you just have to keep the microphone away from him.”
A key change for Clark was with his putter. All three wins came after he switched Ping’s Scottsdale TEC Ally Blue Onset CB.
“He gives them great fairways and tough golf courses and it’s hard to beat,” Stoltz said. “… He was in the very real conversation for Player of the Year until last week (when Scheffler won the Tour Championship) and he did it in practically half the season.
