James Maddison marked his first competitive start Tottenham since May last year with an impressive opening goal as they went ahead against it City of Coventry.
Maddison has spent long spells on the sidelines in recent times due to well-documented struggles with injuries.
Before Monday’s visit to his former club, Maddison’s last appearance in a starting XI was on 1 May 2025 in a Europa League tie with Bodo/Glimt.
And just 14 minutes into the game, he reminded how important he can be for Spurs, bending into the top-left corner from the edge of the box as Tottenham scored the first goal in a Premier League match for the first time this season.
A point against Coventry would leave Tottenham off the bottom of the table, while their first league win would see them out of the relegation zone.
