Garcia’s WBC lightweight title is on the line as he seeks his first title defense, while Benn chases his first major belt. On Thursday, the duo went head-to-head in person Zuffa boxing promoted eventand the tensions were a little high.
Fearing a recurrence their July scrimmageUFC CEO Dana White quickly intervened before the arm was slapped, admitting that “you guys are kicking me out” while they were still hanging.
Garcia also had strong words for Benn. “Your father is lying to you,” Garcia told Ben. “Black eyes in sparring? F—king s—tty. F—k you. I’ll beat that ass.” Fortunately, the English boxer didn’t take the bait, and the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) won’t fine him for extracurricular fighting (at least at this press conference).
