UFC Vegas 124 Nov. 7 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Speaking to Brazilian publication Sexto Round on Tuesday, Degli pointed out the contrast between his closing record and Raposo’s four UFC bouts, all by decision. The 26-year-old Brazilian flyweight enters the match with a record of 15-3, including nine knockouts and five submissions.
Marcos Degli had a 14-stop 15-win streak against Mitch Raposo at UFC Fight Night 293.
“All four of his UFC fights (two losses and two wins) went by decision. I will fight until the end,” said Degli. “Nine of my 15 MMA wins are by knockout and five by submission. He better be ready because my focus is on debuting with both feet in the door, taking the bonus and claiming a big name in the Octagon.”
Degli said he plans to challenge a prominent opponent if he wins. In the long term, he wants to win the flyweight title and break the record set by the former champion Demetrius Johnson.
“If I win on Saturday, I’m already calling a big name – I came to make history. A lot of people say I physically look like Demetrious Johnson, who to me is one of the biggest legends in the sport. And I’m not just focused on becoming a champion, I want to break his record,” he added.
