Kevin De Bruyne scored two goals Belgium scored a 3-0 win over Turkey in the UEFA Nations League.
The Red Devils, beaten 1-0 by France last time out, bounced back in style, with Napoli star De Bruyne a standout in Liege.
De Bruyne opened the scoring in the 10th minute, collecting the loose ball and leaping beyond the challenge of a defender before firing into the bottom right corner.
He improved on that fine goal with his second, which came just before the hour mark when he met Youri Tielemans’ dismissal with a sharp curling goal into the top left corner.
Romelu Lukaku put the game beyond doubt in the 76th minute when he turned home after Charles De Ketelaere’s strike to make it two wins out of three for new manager Mark van Bommel. Belgium is second in Group 1 of League A behind France, who drew 1-1 with Italy.
Turkey, meanwhile, have no points from their opening three matches, their poor run of form under Vincenzo Montella continuing after a woeful World Cup group stage exit.
Lewandowski leads Poland’s rout against Romania, Dzeko sent off
Robert Lewandowski inspired Poland to their first win of the B League campaign, scoring a hat-trick in a 6-0 rout of 10-man Romania.
Lewandowski opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Radu Draugsin was sent off for a push on the striker as he tried to latch on to a long ball in the box.
He headed home his second from point-blank range two minutes into the second half after good work down the left from Nicola Zalewski. An own goal put the game beyond doubt and, after Piotr Zielinski and Jan Bednarek added to the scoring, Lewandowski completed his seventh international hat-trick late on when he slotted home at the near post.
In Zenica, Edin Dzeko bid farewell to international football as he made his final appearance for Bosnia-Herzegovina in a 1-1 draw against Sweden.
The residential building behind the stadium was lit up with flares in the 11th minute of the clash as a tribute to Dzeko, who had a goal disallowed in first-half stoppage time for a foul in the build-up, with Sweden’s Viktor Gyokeres earlier seeing an effort for handball following a VAR check.
Gyokeres broke the deadlock in the 61st minute before Dzeko left the field in front of a guard of honour.
Kerim Alajbegovic equalized 10 minutes from the end of normal time to salvage a point for Bosnia, who are two points behind leaders Sweden and a point ahead of Poland in Group 4 of the second tier.
Northern Ireland went top of Group 2 with an impressive 3-0 win over Ukraine in Slovakia, while Milos Kerkez scored the only goal of the game as Hungary beat Georgia 1-0.
