Mark Walter has agreed to sell his majority ownership of the Los Angeles Lakers just over a year after buying it, a fascinating development with several side stories that will likely continue to unfold in the coming months.
The deal will also — possibly — end the Buss family’s 47-year tenure as franchise managers. At least five of Buss’ six siblings hope so. They are voted to sell their about 18 percent share of the team. Since it is a solitary hold Jeanie Bussthe most powerful of the bunch, a five-on-one showdown feels like a coin toss. Stay tuned.
