Swerve Strickland and New Level retained the World Trios Championship over the Conglomerate Trio of Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong to kick off AEW Dynamite: Rebel Heart.
Coffey started the match by sharing the ring with Cassidy for the first time, followed by Austin Creed with O’Reilly. O’Reilly and Strong continued to work together to get the better of Creed, then Kofi, then Creed again, going for the first cover to no avail.
Cassidy got his turn, but was too slow to carry Creed into the corner, instead starting an exchange of Manhattan drops that left them both on the mat. Creed struggled to tag Kofi into the match, and he looked for Trouble in Heaven before being taken down by Strong, instead turning around to tag Strickland to the contest.
The action began to descend into a flurry of bodies, leaving everyone to land. As the field cleared, Strickland looked for a Swerve Stomp on Cassidy, but he rolled out of the way. Cassidy began fighting all three members of the Trios Champions, connecting with a tornado DDT to plant Strickland on the floor outside the ring.
Cassidy returned to the ring looking for the Orange Punch as Kofi looked for Trouble in Paradise, both missing before Kofi grabbed Cassidy for Strickland to connect with the House Call. Kofi and Creed then teamed up with Daybreak for the win.
After the match, Ricochet and Demand came down to the ring to address the champions. However, while they fought, “Executioner” Adam Page, Brody King and Bandido ran to the ring to make the save. The reigning champions then square off with the former champions to close the segment.
