The The sun exercised their fourth-year option Ryan Dunn and their third-year option Haman Maluachannounced today by the team (Twitter references).
Both players were already due for guaranteed salaries this season. The moves would lock in Dunn’s salary at $5,025,553 and Maluah’s cap hit at $6,617,160 for the 2027/28 season.
The 28th overall pick in the 2024 draft, Dunn was a regular in the rotation in his first two seasons with the Suns, averaging 6.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game in 144 regular season games, including 60 starts. The 6-foot-7 small forward has a slash line of .440/.319/.488 in that span.
Known for his defense and athleticism, Dunn will now be eligible for a rookie-scale extension next offseason ahead of his fourth year in the NBA.
Maluah, a 7’1″ center from South Sudan, averaged 3.0 ppg, 2.9 ppg and 0.7 rpg on 8.9 mpg in 46 regular season games as a rookie in 2025/26. The 20-year-old big man showed well in Summer League and is expected to play more in year two with Mark Williams out with a shoulder injury.
Dunn and Maluach were the only players the Suns had to make rookie-sized decisions this fall.
