September 15 – UEFA has awarded the hosting of its 2028 and 2029 club competition finals to nine cities in nine countries, but Spain will host the Champions League final for two of the next three editions.
In 2027, the Champions League final will be held at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid. The UCL final will return to Spain in 2029, when it will host the remodeled Camp Nou in Barcelona. The awards give the Spaniards two important finals in the run-up to their co-hosting of the 2030 World Cup, where they hope to host the final at the Bernabéu in Madrid.
In 2028 the UCL final will be held at the Munich Football Arena in Germany, the home of Bayern Munich.
The host decisions were made by UEFA’s Executive Committee this morning at a meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The Executive Committee also approved proposed changes to the promotion/relegation system for the 2026/27 Nations League which will make it three leagues instead of four from the 2028/29 edition.
