Southeast Notes: Simmons, Hornets’ Outlook, Suggs, Magic Broadcasts

If Heat took a leaflet Ben SimmonsWorld Health Organization agreed to a contract with the Kings this week? Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel don’t believe it. Winderman believes Simmons, who was out of the league last season and has been ineffective and/or injured in previous campaigns, is an unknown quantity at this point. The Heat are in win-now mode, which would make Simmons a bad spot on their roster, while the Kings are rebuilding and can afford to take a chance on Simmons returning to the form he showed earlier in his career.

• The Hornets had an eventful offseason, trading away a former franchise player Lamela’s ball and Miles Bridges. ESPN Insiders made their predictions for the new look Hornets while waiting for this coach Charles Lee will need to replace Ball, who averaged 20.1 points and 7.1 assists on a 32.0 field goal percentage. Brandon Miller and Mog Knueppel will likely pick up the bulk of the combat slack when supported Kobe White and recently acquired Dennis Schroeder.
• Meanwhile, magic had a relatively quiet offseason, save for a head coaching change. ESPN Insiders I believe that the X-factor of the team will be the guard Jalen Suggswho struggled to stay on the court. Suggs’ 57 games last season were the second most of his career. It’s also noted that Suggs’ 3-point shooting has dipped over the past two seasons, and he needs to change that.
• The magic and Gray Media have announced a partnership to televise approximately 70 regular season games to viewers in Gainesville, Panama City and Tallahassee this season, according to team press release. All regular season games, with the exception of nationally televised games, will be broadcast on WTGB 34.3 in Gainesville, WJHG 7.6 in Panama City and WCTV 6.3 in Tallahassee.
