arsenal got a third win in four games Champions League First-half goals from Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres secured a 2-1 win at Slavia Prague.

The Gunners faced Slavia a year to the day when they met in the league stage last season, as Arsenal ran out easy 3-0 winners.

And Mikel Arteta’s men, riding high after a 1-0 win at Liverpool in the Premier League last Sunday, made the game safe in the opening 45 minutes.

Madueke opened the scoring as he raced onto a pass from Gyokeres and produced a clinical finish, before Arsenal’s Swedish striker grabbed a superb second to leave Slavia with a task that could always prove beyond them, although Wiktor Nowak grabbed a late consolation.

Arsenal broke the deadlock from the first clear chance, Gyokeres doing superbly to hold onto the ball and send Madueke through with a looping pass down the right flank, with the England striker making no mistake as he fired across goal and into the bottom left corner.

Mikel Merino saw three chances to double the lead, the Spaniard twice denied by Nazar Domchak, but it was he who provided the assist as Gyokeres put Arsenal in complete command.

Gyokeres and Merino exchanged turns before the former worked the ball to the root and curled a superb strike past a helpless Domchak.

Oskar Kubiak forced a smart save from David Raya early in the second half as Slavia looked for a way back into the contest but, as they did at Anfield last weekend, Arsenal largely managed to squeeze the life out of the game with their defensive solidity.

Gabriel deflected Mojmír Chytil’s header off the line and when Nowak deflected David Jurasek’s cross it was too little, too late.
