Seth Rollins has been in some of WWE’s biggest matches, but one matchup at SummerSlam seems to stand above the rest.
during a recent interview with ESPN New York Rollins raved about him 2026 SummerSlam clash With WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns, whom he once called the Shield Brothers.
“I think that was the highlight of my career,” Rollins said. “It’s really put a stamp on the last decade or so of what WWE has become, from when The Shield came out in 2012 to now as we start to transition from our era to whatever the next generation is. It really kind of puts a stamp on it.
“It was a lot of pressure,” he continued. “We’re missing one of our main Mox guys who ended up in AEW. I think when you’ve both been here and not quit and gone through all the bad times to get to the good times, there’s a lot of pressure to do that story and meet the expectations of the fans. I was really proud of the fact that we were able to really pull it off and deliver for our audience.”
Rollins and Reigns are no strangers to each other, having worked together as part of The Shield from 2012 until the former shook the chair to end their alliance in 2014. That infamous moment came at SummerSlam 2026 when Reigns picked up a chair and then decided to throw it. Three Spears Later, “The OTC” Pinned Rollins to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
Rollins hasn’t been seen on WWE television since, though he wrestled alongside Solo Sikoa and LA Knight in a series of live events in South America last month.
