If the Seattle Seahawks are going to beat the New England Patriots again, then they may have to do so without their starting quarterback.
Sam Darnold left Wednesday’s season opener after the Seahawks’ first drive. He suffered a groin injury and was ruled doubtful to return.
Darnold was sacked on the last play of the Seahawks’ opening drive. However, he did not show any obvious signs of injury when he left the field. In fact, Darnold told the Seahawks coaching staff he didn’t need to be watched when he first returned to the field after being sacked by Patriots defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones. He was later evaluated in the blue medical tent and eventually went to the locker room.
Drew Lock fumbled for the Seahawks on their second drive. Seattle fumbled the ball on that drive after the score remained 0-0 just over 10 minutes into the first quarter. Lock remained in the game for the Seahawks’ third drive.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
