“Smiles” Sam is back.
Alvey will compete at BKFC Fight Night Hershey on Friday, December 4, 2026 at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The promotion announced today that “Smilin” Sam will fight Johnathan “Big Baby” Miller in the 225-pound bantamweight division.
Alvey, 40, has competed in Karate Combat for the past three years, posting a 5-1-1 record in the promotion’s chamber. During this run, he captured the heavyweight championship and later became a grandfather as Karate Combat’s open heavyweight title holder.
The long-time UFC veteran turned heads in 2025 with a stunning knockout of kickboxing Tyrone Spong as a huge underdog to successfully defend his heavyweight title (watch the highlights).
Unfortunately for Alvey, his unlikely championship run came to a violent end one fight later Robelis Despaigne knocked him out with a brutal headbutt (watch the highlights).
Alvey made a splash by defeating the former UFC middleweight champion in his last appearance Uriah Hall.
Interestingly, Alvey has reportedly signed a multi-fight deal with BKFC, which still leaves the door open for him to compete elsewhere. He is already planning to return to Karate Combat as early as January 2027.
His first bare-knuckle doll appears to be very affordable.
Miller is 2-2 under the BKFC banner and is currently riding a six-fight losing streak between bare-knuckle boxing, mixed martial arts (MMA) and karate fighting. “Big Baby” last competed against the UFC fan favorite Chris Barnettwho knocked him out in about one minute in the Karate Combat box.
It’s safe to say that BKFC aren’t going to throw Alvey straight into the deep end.
BKFC Fight Night Hershey Main Event Middleweight Champion Dustin Pague fights the former two-time light heavyweight champion Mike Richman.
