Report: Deshaun Watson was cited for speeding on August 26

The eventful month for Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson included a speeding ticket two days after he was named the starter.

Via Fox 8 in Cleveland, Watson was quoted for driving 86 miles per hour in a 60 mph zone on Wednesday, August 26.

Watson pleaded not guilty in Cleveland Municipal Court on Wednesday. A bench trial is set for Wednesday, September 23.

This is a working day for Watson. It makes sense to just accept the ticket and move on; surely, he won’t miss training before the team’s opening game.

The quote also came four days after the low point of his career in Cleveland — a preseason performance that featured incessant yelling, and a contrite postgame press conference in which he expressed doubts about whether he could play effectively during an upcoming home game.

Whether he plays in the Week 3 home game, of course, depends largely on how he and the team perform in the first two games of the season, at Jacksonville and at Tampa Bay.
