Broncos owners Carrie Walton Penner and Greg Penner currently own 40 percent of MLB’s Colorado Rockies. Whenever the impending baseball shakeup ends, they are expected to emerge with a controlling interest in the local baseball franchise.
Via Woody Paige’s The Colorado Springs GazettePenners intend to buy Another 35 percent of the Rockies once the Baseball Collective Bargaining Agreement is resolved.
The Walton-Penner Group bought the Broncos in 2022 for a then-record $4.65 billion, less than half the price last paid for the Seahawks.
Their fortune goes to the Walmart empire, which has created a group of multibillionaires. The Broncos’ ownership group is right up there because they are the richest in the NFL, by far, and they are willing to spend their money on improving the team – which gives them a real advantage over their competitors.
Last year, in their fourth season of ownership, the Broncos earned the No. 1 seed. 1 in the AFC and all but secured a spot in the Super Bowl, the team is one of the short-list favorites for 2026.
