AEW had their annual “Dynamite. blood and guts” episode wednesday The show kicked off with a women’s game for the second year in a row. Willow Nightingale came to the cage rings carrying a backpack containing toy bricks and broken glass. You might be thinking, “aren’t toy bricks just LEGOs?” and you’d probably be right. However, there is a reason the commentary called them toy bricks.
On Wrestling Observer RadioBrian Alvarez revealed that they can’t say lego anymore in WWE, which surprised Dave Meltzer.
“They made it very clear that they should be called toy bricks. Whenever someone accidentally said the word LEGO, they had to correct it to the toy bricks. So the toy bricks got mixed up here.”
Alvarez did not provide a reason why AEW is not allowed to use the well-known brand synonymous with toy bricks. However, LEGO has a Fair play policy which talks about counterfeit items using the LEGO logo, protecting their trademark and how users should treat their products. While it doesn’t specifically mention TV, AEW likely erred on the side of caution and used the more general term.
