The Predators signed a contract with the former Knicks guard Kevin McCallar Jr on a two-way contract, the team announced today (Link to Twitter via Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca).
Toronto waived a pair of two-way players – Trey Jamison and Chuckie Hepburn – Closer to the end of the preseason. Afterwards, the team transformed into Big Man Nate Beatle from an Annex 10 contract to a two-way deal ahead of opening night, but kept another two-way slot open until then. Since McCallor will fill that vacancy, no corresponding roster moves were necessary to officially sign him.
The 56th pick in the 2024 draft out of Kansas, McCallar spent his first two professional seasons on a two-way contract with the Knicks playing sparingly for the club. In just 25 NBA games, the flashy 6-foot-6 guard averaged 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per contest.
McCallor has seen a bit more action at the G League level over the past couple of seasons. In 2025-26, he averaged 16.8 points, 6.2 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 31.4 minutes per game over 14 games with the Westchester Knicks. Despite filling the box for Westchester, the 25-year-old hit a staggering .422/.299/.667.
This fall, it looked like McCullar would sign a two-way deal with New York for the third year in a row, but after opening the season with the team, he was refused during the first week to make room for a newbie Dalton Knecht. He has been an unrestricted free agent ever since.
McCallor will be allowed to appear until 45 regular season games for the Raptors, who would need to elevate him to the standard 15-man roster to make him eligible for the playoffs.
