49th-ranked defensive end Nick Bosa may need some time to get back to 100 percent, but he will play in the season opener.
Defensive coordinator Raheem Morris confirmed that Bosa’s surgically repaired right knee is good enough to get him on the field against the Rams.
“Oh, he’s going to be out there. Whatever you want to say, he’s going to be. He’s going to be out there. We’re not hiding it,” Morris said, via Harrison Rich of San Francisco Chronicle.
Bosa, 28, said last week he thought he would be ready to go for Week 1 and he made the trip to Australia.
He tore his ACL in a Sept. 21 game against the Cardinals and underwent surgery on Sept. 26. While returning this summer, Bosa experienced soreness and tendinitis in his right knee, and the 49ers held him out until Sept. 2 when he returned to practice.
Bosa hasn’t had a double-digit sack season since 2023, which is the last time he played all 17 games. He has played just 17 games over the past two seasons, totaling 11 sacks.
