Every now and then, a new piece of equipment comes across my desk that is meant for something else, but could work for the everyday golfer. The Povec C1 Performance sunglasses fall into this category.
Pros
These sunglasses are so rad.
Your ink changes from light to dark with a simple swipe of your finger on the right side of the frames. I’m only human and I’d be lying if I said my “wow factor” wasn’t turned on.
The technology is incredibly cool. The idea is simple: If you are in a super bright place, slide and enjoy the darker tint. If you go for a darker area or cloud cover reduces the need for sunglasses, scroll once more for a less aggressive tint that allows more light.
In theory, you can turn the tee when you hit your shot and try to follow the ball and then you can turn it back when you move on the golf course as usual.
The original concept was clearly built for outdoor enthusiasts who consistently move from light to dark environments (think of a motorcyclist going in and out of tunnels during a bike race). You have a lot less of that on the golf course, but the technology is still cool, though.
cons

I have concluded that the Povec C1 Performance Sunglasses are more suitable for other sports. They may work on the golf course, but there are a few things that prevent me from easily recommending them.
First of all, too much light sneaks in from the top and sides. This is a problem on the golf course and I noticed it the most when I was on the putting surface. When I looked to the side to read a putt before making contact, enough light came in to hinder my routine.
Second, the tint seemed to let in more light than most golf glasses I’ve tried in 2026. They help with some filtering, but not enough to feel like a pair of high-end golf glasses. When I changed it to the darker ink, it felt average. When I switched to the lighter tint, I noticed little relief from the sun.
I’m not saying these things to label the Povec C1 Performance Sunglasses as a “bad” pair of sunglasses (because they’re not) but the limitations on the golf course are worth it.
If you’re going to meet the Povec C1 Performance Sunglasses, you’re getting an advanced pair of sunglasses. Just think about seeing the sun more than you are used to with other golf glasses.
