Perry Saturn broke into WWE alongside The Radicalzpositioning him and the rest of the group in the upper midcard, where Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit grew and progressed in their promotion, while Saturn unfortunately didn’t go very far, having the infamous “Moppy” storyline.
Recalling his recent run with the WWE, “INSIGHT with Chris Van VlietSaturn attributes this to the fact that he was injured while still tagging Shawn Stasiak, as well as refusing to take a pay cut. Detailing the moment of his injury, Saturn claims he dislocated both legs after receiving a chop block in the middle of the pitch and had to undergo surgery while high on drugs.
“At home then, I just never recovered,” he admitted. “While I was injured at home, they decided to reduce everyone’s salary.”
Saturn stated that he believed Vince McMahon hired The Radicals to oppose WCW and gave them lucrative contracts that included not being able to take a pay cut, so he argued when John Laurinaitis offered him one.
“It’s OK, so we won’t sign again?” And I go. “Okay, I have nine months left. You have to pay me for nine months. And he goes. “Yeah, Vince’s not going to be happy,” he recalled. Saturn said he got another call from Laurinatis the next day, agreeing to pay him nine months’ salary in one check, while making it clear they didn’t want him back.
The veteran then admits that he wasn’t doing well at the moment, leading him to quit because he’s never done anything but wrestle.
“Once I got down, I just didn’t want to get up, so I stayed down a long time,” Saturn said.
