Leave it to the Cardinals to abuse possessions. It’s just before the trade deadline, and with so many teams needing a QB, Arizona traded Jacoby Brissett for almost nothing despite being one of the few starting caliber quarterbacks on the market. Details are out on their trade with the Ravens, and how much they’re getting in return is jaw-dropping.
If Lamar Jackson was guaranteed to return this season and the deal was about bolstering depth, we would have looked at this trade differently, but the Ravens have confirmed it. Thursday night football How deep a hole are you in when it comes to the QB position. Additionally, the Minnesota Vikings could easily be in the market for QB help depending on how their Week 9 game against the Bills goes, while the Eagles could be another dark horse candidate to compete in the woeful NFC East.
That’s three contenders, all in need of help, all of whom could have landed on the guard side of the Brissett trade. It’s not like Arizona got a ton either way, but at least there’s no way they can outright fire a 4th round pick, especially if they’re eating up the maximum amount of money available on the deal.
Congratulations to the Ravens for absolutely running away from Arizona in this deal, because it was absolutely horrible.
