England center Benhard Janse van Rensburg committed to his future Bristol Bears, sign a new contract with the club.
The South African-born midfielder has been with Bristol since 2023, having previously played in PREM for London Irish.
A cornerstone of the Bears’ backline, Janse van Rensburg is closing in on 75 competitive appearances for the club and made his Test debut for England in July during the Nations Championship.
“I am absolutely delighted that BV has extended his time at Bristol as he is truly one of the best players I have had the privilege of coaching,” said Bears DoR Pat Lam.
“The reason everyone admires his consistency in performance week in week out is his incredible attitude and desire to represent his family with pride and not let his team down.
“He is extremely coachable and the high standards he sets for himself, both in training and in matches, are the reason why he is one of the most valued players in the team.
“BV has become an extremely important part of our team here in Bristol, and we are excited to see him continue to grow and raise his game to a new level of performance.”
Janse van Rensburg said: “I’m really happy to be staying at Bristol. I’ve loved my time here so far and it was an easy decision to commit my future to the club.
“We have a great group of players, coaches and staff, and I truly believe in what we are trying to achieve together. There is a lot of ambition in this squad and I want to be a part of taking this club forward.”
“I’ve really enjoyed the way we play rugby here. It suits my game, gives me the freedom to express myself and challenges me to keep improving.”
“The fans have been great to me and my family since we arrived and I’m looking forward to making more memories in a Bears shirt and hopefully helping to bring success to Bristol.”
