Preview Nottingham Forest v Manchester City
Manchester City have not lost three Premier League games in a row since March 2016. Enzo Maresca will be desperate to keep it that way when his side travel to the City Ground on Saturday evening to face an Oliver Glasner who can’t buy a goal.
City’s league form has stalled badly. After winning their first seven games of the season, they have lost back-to-back games against Aston Villa and Brighton, and have now gone three domestic games without a win within 90 minutes.
Wednesday’s Champions League win at Leipzig will have helped morale, Erling Haaland scoring the winner in the 78th minute from an Elliot Anderson cross.
Anderson’s return to the City Ground adds an extra edge to this one. The midfielder joined City from Forest in the summer for a fee of £116million, and this will be his first game for his former club.
City manager Enzo Maresca expects the England international to receive a warm welcome.
“What he’s done there has been important,” he said. “The money he left there has been significant, so I hope it will be well received.
“It’s a big game for Elliot, but a big game for all of us – every game in the Premier League is important. And then, in terms of how much you pay for a player, it’s not the most important thing. At the end of the day, they’re human beings, they’re players, and the important thing is that he’s a very good player and helps us.”
City remain the most dangerous attacking team in the Premier League. They have scored 20 goals in La Liga and have the highest expected goals total in the division.
Forest’s problem is the opposite. They’ve taken 152 shots, the second most in the league, and have generated 14.34 expected goals, but have scored just six, the fewest in the division. Their 4% shot conversion rate is the lowest in the league.
The pressure is mounting on Glasner. Forest have won just one Premier League game this season and lost four of their last five, prompting Glasner to hold a “no-compromise” team meeting to demand immediate improvement.
City have the upper hand in recent meetings, winning five of their last seven against Forest.

Nottingham Forest v Manchester City team news
Forest are without Nicolò Savona, who returns to training but is unlikely to feature. Nicolás Domínguez is a doubt with a knock while Igor Jesús struggles to overcome a calf problem.
City only have one major injury with Antoine Semenyo not expected until mid-December.
Maresca turned slightly in Leipzig. Abdukodir Khusanov replaced Rúben Dias and Phil Foden started on the left but was replaced by Jérémy Doku just after the hour mark. Maresca is expected to return to his strongest side.
