You only get one Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut!
The two rookies stepped into the Octagon this weekend (Saturday, September 12, 2026) at UFC 4 night Inside the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Obviously, one had to win and the other had to lose—and one of them lost cruelly.
Now that the dust has settled, we rate their respective performances below:
Only with eight days’ notice Jessie Rosas– older brother Raul Rosas Jr.—was re-signed by the promotion after previously cut and matched with a fellow newcomer Sean King III.
Spoiler: It was a very quick fight.
The two featherweights traded low kicks and body shots to start the action. Just 30 seconds into the fight, King ducked a left hand and applied a body lock. When Rosas tried to defend, King lifted him in the air, trapped him with a left hand and violently slammed him headfirst into the canvas.
Rosas was knocked unconscious by the collision, but King still managed to land several punches before the referee was able to step in and stop the fight after 36 seconds (watch the highlights).
It was the perfect debut for King, who announced his arrival with one incredibly loud bang.
With the fight lasting less than a minute, King didn’t get to show off much of his overall skills. However, I can tell you that he is a solid prospect with strong wrestling, a sneaky submission, and especially nasty grappling.
His hitting also continues to improve. At just 22 years old and sporting a perfect 7-0 record, “The King of New Orleans” has a lot to like – the UFC just needs to avoid rushing him.
I’d like to see King’s face Alberto Montes in his second Octagon appearance.
As for Rosa, I didn’t like the UFC’s decision to re-sign him because he just wasn’t ready for this level of competition… Thirty-six seconds later, I feel even worse about it.
Can you imagine what Miles Johns would have done to the poor child?
Rosas entered Noche UFC with a sparkling 8-1 record, but most of those wins came against formidable regional competition. This may not be a huge insult, as padded boards are very common on the regional scene these days, but his resume contained an important warning sign.
Rosas’ only previous defeat came against the longtime journeyman Keenan Lewiswho drafted him in the first round in 2024. It was a horrible loss then, and it looks even worse now.
None of this is to say that Rosas won’t eventually become a UFC-caliber fighter. He is only 23 years old and competed one division above his natural Bantam weight class. He has a lot of time to develop, but he needs a lot more seasoning before he can fight inside the Octagon again.
If the UFC were smart, it would release Rosas again and allow him to develop properly in the regional scene. I doubt that will happen though.
Unfortunately, I think Rosas will go 0-4 before finally getting his walking papers.
If the promotion insists on keeping him, it needs to match him up with someone near the absolute bottom of the Bantamweight roster and see what happens.
