The NFL Players Association announced Friday that Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been named their Week 3 Community MVP.
Sanders was recognized after visiting a pair of East Cleveland public schools. Sanders donated and distributed 500 backpacks filled with school supplies during visits that included pizza and ice cream for attendees.
“I really believe in perfect timing and to be named Community MVP means a lot,” Sanders said. “What matters most is that those kids know they’re seen, heard and felt. If that gives them a little more motivation to keep showing up, then we’ve done our job.”
The NFLPA will donate $10,000 to Sanders’ foundation, and he will join other weekly honorees in qualifying for the Alan Page Award at the end of the year.
