Muhammad Mokaev Says UFC BJJ Title Fight Against Mikey Musumec Came Without MMA Comeback
Speaking BBC SportMokaev said that the question was not about the opponent offered to him. Instead, he argued against the UFC’s reluctance to tie a combative appearance to a full roster return.
According to Mokaev, he was offered $10,000 to compete against Musumec in UFC BJJ and was willing to accept the match if it would later lead to a UFC contract. When the promotion indicated that the fight arena was separate from the MMA plans, “The Punisher” refused.
“They said, ‘No, it’s different.’ BJJ is different. It’s different. We have other plans. I told them where to go,” said Mokaev.
The UFC decided to re-sign Mokaev (17-0) after his win over the top-ranked 125-pounder. Manel Cape. Despite a perfect record, the Dagestan-born Briton’s pre-fight antics turned him against seemingly the best of promoters. Since then, he has won four more victories while being active in grappling and grappling matches.
