MLB Central’s Mark DeRosa breaks down Chris Sale’s incredible domination of the Los Angeles Dodgers as the Atlanta Braves complete a stunning three-game sweep.
Chris Sale delivered one of the most dominant pitching performances of the 2026 MLB season, throwing a complete-game shutout in Atlanta’s 1-0 victory over the Dodgers. Sale allowed just five hits, walked nobody and struck out 11 batters over nine scoreless innings on 109 pitches. It was his first complete game and shutout since 2019.
The veteran left-hander also turned back the clock, touching 100.1 mph against Shohei Ohtani while repeatedly keeping the Dodgers’ dangerous lineup off balance. Yoshinobu Yamamoto was excellent as well, allowing only one run over 6 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts, but Sale delivered the decisive performance.
