Mike Tirico to miss Bucs-Bears ‘Sunday Night Football’ due to health issue

There will be a noticeable change Sunday night football with NBC Sports will announce Sunday afternoon That said, longtime play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico will miss the game due to an undisclosed health issue.

Noah Eagle calls the game at Tirico, sitting alongside Cris Collinsworth and Melissa Stark. It will be the first time Tirico has missed a broadcast since taking over from Al Michaels in 2022. Meanwhile, it will be the NFL primetime debut for the Eagles, who have been calling NFL games since 2023.

Sunday night’s game between the Buccaneers and Bears allows the situation to work out geographically, with the Eagles taking on Indiana’s Miami-Notre Dame game on Saturday night. This allowed him to jump from the neighboring state to Chicago. A prolific announcer in his own right, Eagle is the son of legendary broadcaster Ian Eagle, who has been a staple of CBS Sports since 1998, calling both football and basketball.

Our thoughts are with Mike Tirico, and we hope he recovers soon.
