GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Friday that he will be starting running back Josh Jacobs for the first time. Sentenced Thursday Error battery.
“Unfortunately, things happen in life, and this is just an unfortunate situation,” Lafleur said.
Lafleur said Jacobs’ conviction won’t change his feelings about running because “I know the man and I know the character.” When asked why the Packers would keep Jacobs on the team despite his conviction for assaulting a female, Lafleur said he is not talking more about the situation until the NFL completes its investigation.

Jacobs pleaded no contest to criminal trespass to property and criminal trespass in Green Bay court on Thursday. He was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine on the battery charge and to complete a five-part deferred adjudication program over the next 12 months in order to have the property crime charge dismissed.
“I fully understand the seriousness of the situation, and I take full responsibility,” Jacobs said in a brief statement in court.
