Imagine if two of WWE’s hottest tag team rivals during the Attitude Era joined forces as an extreme babyface faction to take on other top stables of the time, such as D-Generation X. Well, one time Matt Hardy came up with such an idea, which he told about himself “Extreme Life” podcast.
“It was after our ladder match (No Mercy 1999You know, I came up with the idea of putting me, Jeff, Edge, and Christian into a faction together that we had this unique respect for. And because of that ladder match and what we’ve done, breaking so many barriers, doing all these new things, we’re the version of what the wrestlers of tomorrow are. But it is obvious that it did not happen. They had different plans,” Hardy recalls.
Instead of putting them on the same page, The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian continued their feud, cementing the legendary rivalry itself. Now, just the two of them, Matt and Jeff Hardy, have a new and sinister team to contend with, as Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw (formerly known as WWE stars Joe Gacy and Dexter Loomis, respectively), known together in TNA as Syx, run rough on the former five-time TNA World Tag Team Champions. These two teams had their first fight at Bound for Glory last Sunday.
