Mason Rook defeated Tony D’Angelo and Saquon Sugars in a triple threat match to become number one contender to the NXT Championship on “WWE NXT.”
Winning a six-man match last week Cruz Montana, EC. Against Prosper and Keanu Carver, the three battled it out for a chance at Grayson Waller.
The bout saw typical three-way action with each man getting the upper hand at different stages. At one point, Sugars choked Rook in the back, only to have D’Angelo apply it to him.
Sugars watched as D’Angelo rolled his legs into the ropes for leverage, but then the referee stopped the count even though there were no disqualifications or rope breaks. This allowed Rook to regain the advantage, throwing Sugars out of the ring and exchanging blows with D’Angelo.
They each went over the top rope and Rook landed on the steel chair on the outside. Sugars jumped off the steel steps to take out Rook and D’Angelo and returned to the ring with the former champion. But then Rook got back in the ring and delivered a cannonball to D’Angelo in the corner, only to be hit with a Tornado DDT by Sugars.
Sugars jumped D’Angelo off the top rope and went for the cover, but Tristan Angels pulled the referee out of the ring to break up the count. The Sugars and Angels continued to brawl as Rook took advantage once again, D’Angelo’s back came out and allowed Rook to land the Blue Thunderbomb.
Rook continued to splash for the win, closing out the show with a confrontation with Waller.
