Mason Rook, Saquon Sugars and former NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo will head into a triple threat number one contender’s match next week to determine who will face NXT Champion Grayson Waller. The match was made official after Rook won a six-man tag team match for himself, the former DarkState member, and D’Angelo. Tuesday’s edition of “WWE NXT.”
All six men were shut down to start the game, but E.K. Prosper and Sugars officially kicked things off. Sugars tried to hold Keanu Carver back, but Carver dropped him to the mat and then sent Sugars flying into a huge shoulder pad. Rook briefly battled Cruz Montana before tagging in D’Angelo and Cruz took them both out with a double chopper.
There were a number of quick tags from both teams, and for a good portion of the match, each team worked well to earn a triple threat match. Carver and Cruz hit a double team move to throw Sugars into Prosper on the top turnbuckle, but the next move didn’t hold Sugars.
Cruz and Carver isolated Rook in their corner and hit a superplex from the second rope. Prosper jumped off Rook’s back to try and take out the other team, but Rook was still able to tag D’Angelo, who took down Prosper and Carver. Prosper attempted a move from the top with only himself and D’Angelo in the ring, but the former champion hit a spear and then Dead to Rights.
Rook tagged in and before they could brawl, he put D’Angelo, his teammate, on his back and backpack cannonballed Prosper in the corner. Rook pinned Prosper for the win, setting up his match against D’Angelo and the Sugars next week.
