Marlie Packer will not travel with Red Roses to North America for the second half WXV Global Series ahead of the birth of her first child with Rosie Galligan.
The 37-year-old winger, who won 119 Test caps, played in all three of England’s home matches in September and started in the team’s win against the Black Ferns at the Allianz Stadium.
Of the 32 players selected by John Mitchell for the tour, 24 played in the matches against Australia, Canada and New Zealand. The squad does not include Delaney Burns, Haidee Head and Sophie McQueen, who are all ruled out through injury.
There is room for Christiana Balogun, Daisy Hibbert-Jones, Haineala Lutui, Demelza Short, Tatyana Heard, Emma Sing, Mia Venner and Bo Westcombe-Evans, all of whom picked up game time at the JAECOO Next Gen Cup in recent weeks.
Last weekend at Trailfinders In the women’s 72-19 win against Harlequins, Westcombe-Evans scored a hat-trick.
In total, he has 1,168 Test appearances among the team to be captained by Meg Jones in games against Canada and USA Women’s Eagles. England kick off their North American tour with back-to-back games against Canada in Toronto and Ottawa just weeks after a 26-26 draw with Kévin Rouet’s side.
They will conclude their 2026 WXV Global Series campaign against the USA Women’s Eagles at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey.
John Mitchell, head coach of the Red Roses, said: “Our last two tests against Canada and New Zealand they were humdingers who could go either way; they were extremely important for our development until 2029.
“Playing quality opposition and learning to adapt under pressure will help us raise our level and improve our game.
“The 32 players traveling to North America have a great opportunity to improve our bonds as a team because playing away from home requires togetherness.
“We’ve shown a real hunger to compete and improve, and we’re excited to get into our preparations and continue our rivalry with Canada in Toronto.”
