Ultimate Fighting Championship Octagon as he faces off Jeong Yeong Lee at
UFC Vegas 123 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Erosa, 37, said in an interview with Fanatics View that his Oct. 31 bout against Lee will be his retirement fight, regardless of the outcome. The longtime featherweight said he wants to set a firm end date because neither a win nor a loss necessarily makes walking away any easier.
Julian Erosa Explains Why Fatherhood And His Long-Term Health Influenced His Decision To Retire After Meeting Jeong Yeong Lee
Erosa has lost its last two matches, including a shutout
Lerryan Douglas in March. “Juicy J” is looking to end his career with a win against Lee.
“I haven’t made a big deal out of it, but this is my last fight,” Erosa said. “I just wanted to give myself another chance to try and put my hand up, but I wanted to put a date on when I’m going to stop because I think it’s a matter of win, lose or draw, I want to fight again.”
He explained that a win could tempt him to continue competing, while a defeat could leave him hunting for redemption. Erosa also said that fatherhood has changed his priorities and he plans to move his family from Las Vegas back to his home state of Washington.
“The order of important things in my life has changed a little after the birth of my son,” added Erosa. “My life used to be a fight and now I have other things that are on top of it. So I have to pay attention to those things and if I can get out of the fight healthy, that’s what I want.”
Erosa made his UFC debut in 2015 after appearing on “The Ultimate Fighter.” After serving his contract, he returned to the promotion
Dana White Candidate Series in 2018, but was released after three straight losses. He joined the UFC in 2020 after winning the regional and has since competed in the Octagon 13 more times, bringing his promotional record to 9-9.
