McCallor spent the last two seasons with New York on two-way deals after being selected 56th overall in the 2024 draft. The 25-year-old played 21 games in the 2025/26 regular season, averaging 2.4 points in 7.4 minutes per game.
A 6-foot-6 wing who played college ball at Texas Tech and Kansas, McCall also appeared in 14 games (31.4 mpg) with the G League’s Westchester Knicks last season, averaging 16.8 PPG, 6.2 APG, 5.4 RPG, 2.0 SPG and 1.0 BPG per 0.422/0.299/0.667 twine shots.
Nickell was one of the few 2026 second-round picks — he was selected 47th overall in June — that yet to sign his first NBA contracts. Obviously, the situation is now resolved.
As a senior at Vanderbilt last season, Nickell averaged 13.5 ppg, 3.3 ppg and 1.2 ppg on .445/.400/.847 shooting in 36 games in all starts (30.6 mpg). The 23-year-old has been an excellent three-point shooter, averaging 7.6 per game from beyond the arc.
Nickel, 6’7″ wing, was according to reports weighing be try to return to the ranks of the NCAA after a a federal judge ruled in August that four-year college players from the high school class of 2022 became eligible for a fifth season in 2026-27. If the decision is upheld, Nickell could have made more money on a NIL deal in college than a two-way contract, but he chose to start his NBA career instead.
The Knicks had three open two-way spots all offseason. Two of those spots are now occupied by McCallor and Nickell, but the team is still busy one bilateral opening on the eve of training camp.
