Chimaev has sought an immediate rematch with Strickland after the loss
Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight title, but is now open to waiting for a title shot. Amid reports that Strickland v. Imavov 2 is targeted for the end of this year, “Borz” has targeted a winner.

Chimaev admitted that Imavov, who has won five fights in a row after an earlier loss to Strickland, has been waiting a long time for a title shot.
“No, no surprise here,” Chimaev told Ushatayka, as seen in a clip reposted from Rounds Xl of the championship. “How long has Imavov been waiting now? Probably about two years. He’s already a candidate. Whoever wins, we’ll take it.”
In the same interview, Chimaev confirmed that he has no plans to leave the division, despite his team previously hinting at a move to light heavyweight following his loss to Strickland.
“No,” Chimaev said when asked about moving up a weight class. “Until we all break at 185, I’m not going anywhere.”
