Patriots safety Kevin Byard isn’t from Chicago, but Thursday night’s game will still be a homecoming for the veteran.
Byard played for the Bears the past two seasons and was named a first-team All-Pro after helping them win the NFC North last season. Byard remained a free agent this offseason, but said he has no bad feelings about leaving and is excited to return to “an electric environment” at Soldier Field.
A lack of bad feelings doesn’t mean he’ll do whatever he can to lift the Patriots in their quest for a fourth straight victory.
“I am giving coaches and players as much as i canyou know what I mean?” Byard said, via Kyle Hightower of the Associated Press. “Obviously, I’m not there anymore and I don’t have all my notes and stuff. But in terms of personnel, everything I can remember.”
Byard led the league with seven interceptions last season, but he has yet to catch a ball this year. Getting a layoff from former teammate Caleb Williams could be a bigger boon to New England’s cause than any intel Byard can provide off the field.
