Packers quarterback Jordan Love aired it all afternoon, leading Green Bay to a 31-7 victory over Chicago.
Love completed 25-of-31 passes for 367 yards with two touchdowns – good for a 137.5 passer rating. He completed five passes for at least 40 yards. As noted by Kevin Fishbain of TheAthletic.com, Chicago hadn’t given up that many passes of at least 40 yards since at least 2000.
Christian Watson had two such receptions for touchdowns, catching a 42-yarder to open the scoring in the first quarter. He then caught a 53-yard TD in the third quarter to make it 20-7. Watson finished the game with six receptions for 143 yards.
Marshawn Lloyd had a pair of touchdown runs, one for 7 yards and another for 4 yards in the fourth quarter.
Matthew Golden also had a 50-yard catch and a 36-yard touchdown, finishing with six receptions for 123 yards.
Notably, the Packers threw a deep pass even as they trailed 31-7 early in the fourth quarter — perhaps an in-game message from Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur to Chicago coach Ben Johnson.
With Caleb Williams still sidelined with a hamstring injury, Tyson Bagent struggled against Green Bay’s defense, going 12-for-21 for 87 yards with two interceptions. He was replaced by Case Keenum early in the fourth quarter, who fared no better — throwing an interception to end his first possession.
Keenum finished 11 of 19 for 108 yards with one touchdown and one fumble.
The Bears had five giveaways while the Packers had none.
But the Packers may have a kicking problem, as rookie Trey Smack missed three Sunday — an extra point and two field goals. His missed extra point went wide left, a 43-yard field goal went wide left and a 47-yard field goal went wide right.
Cairo Santos also missed a 43-yard field goal midway through the third quarter.
Notably, Packers linebacker Javon Hargrave was carted off the field just after the two-minute warning after being brought down on a short pass.
Now at 3-2, the Packers will host the Cowboys next Sunday night.
The 3-2 Bears will be on the road to face the Falcons. They could get quarterback Caleb Williams back from a hamstring injury after he was able to practice on Friday.
