The Dallas Cowboys only have five picks in next year’s NFL Draft, but that doesn’t seem to worry Jerry Jones.
On his weekly radio show Tuesday morning on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, the Cowboys owner and general manager said he’s more interested in improving this year’s roster than he is concerned about limited future picks.
The Cowboys recently restructured the contracts of defensive end Kenny Clark, tight end Jake Ferguson and cornerback Darron Bland to create more salary cap space.

While the position could carry over to next season, Jones said he intends to use it this year.
“It shows that if we want to trade now, we’re in a really viable and tough place financially,” he said of the reforms.
Jones added that “generally speaking” the Cowboys are “in a game” to make a move and it will likely come on defense.
More help at pass rush or cornerback might be needed, but linebacker could be a possibility depending on the team’s early season and overall health.
As for not trading for an offensive lineman, Jones said it was a “great move” by the Cowboys. Add Broderick Jones Two weeks ago.
The Cowboys sent the Pittsburgh Steelers third- and sixth-round picks and a fourth-round pick for Jones. He has been competing with Terrence Steele for the starting right tackle job. Steele is expected to remain the starter, while Jones is likely to be the team’s swing.
