International Notes: Howard, NBA Europe, Galloway, Knight

Eight-time All-Star and three-time Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard is officially out of the NBA starting in 2022 announced his retirement as a player in March of this year. However, he apparently hasn’t decided to hang up his sneakers yet. Howard has signed with Black Fortress Tbilisi of the Georgian A-League, according to a team statement (Link to Instagram; hat tip to Sporty).

Howard, who will turn 41 this December, has competed in Taiwan, Puerto Rico and the BIG3 since his last NBA appearance and is participating in exhibition games in Asia this month ahead of the upcoming season.

  • As the Australian National Basketball League’s Perth Wildcats look for an import point guard, one player is on their radar Brandon KnightESPN’s Olgun Uluk reports (Link to Twitter). Knight played in the NBA from 2011 to 2022, playing 451 regular season games for six teams. The 34-year-old played in Puerto Rico and Greece the past few seasons.
  • BC Roma, the new Italian team competing in the European Cup for the 2026/27 season, has officially confirmed that longtime NBA executive Brian Colangelo is part of its advisory board, as relay Mark Stein of The Stein Line (via Twitter). BC Roma also announced that the Hall of Fame Chris Mullinformer Warriors star and executive, joined its advisory board.
