October 19: MG Indian Super League 2026-27 got 65 million YouTube views and 52 million viewers in its first five matches.
The season opened on 10 October with Bengaluru FC against Sporting Club Delhi, which garnered 8.9 million views across all formats and peaked at 85,277 viewers simulcast in English.
Inter Kashi vs Kerala Blasters recorded the highest peak of the English broadcast, with 349,073 viewers at the same time. NorthEast United vs. Mohun Bagan Super Giant was the most watched match of the week with 17 million views and led the Hindi broadcast with a peak of 100,660 concurrent viewers.
The opening week also produced 16.8 million engaged views and 1.6 million live interactions via chat and reactions. The league’s YouTube channel added 120,000 subscribers, reaching 2.7 million.
The numbers are important for a league rebuilding its business model. The ISL had a shortened 2025-26 season after its previous structure fell apart, with clubs now taking control of commercial rights. Sony Sports Network is back as the TV partner, with SonyLIV streaming nationally and YouTube providing wider access, while JSW MG Motor India has signed on as the title sponsor.
The split between English and Hindi channels also underlines the value of multilingual coverage in a country with a diverse football audience.
