Ian Poulter on the golf course while speaking on the Golf Channel? I think. After son Luke’s Great Britain and Ireland team rallied to defeat the United States in the Walker Cup on Sunday, he reflected on the scene at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland.
But Poulter a little later in an Irish pub?

Sunday was something for Poulterone of the best players on the European Ryder Cup team and now a LIV Golf pro. Luke won his singles match on Sunday. GB and I won the Cup. After that, Golf Channel’s Steve Burkowski he wondered what Poulter made of it all. There were four questions.
How Poulter will describe what those to Lahinch seen?
“Absolutely exciting,” Poulter said. “As a father, as a fan, as someone who loves golf and has been a part of golf, it was really special. Seeing the 17- and 18-year-old boys and that Josh (Hill) literally had the last putt on the last hole to hit it was literally epic. All the guys who had to come to 18, who had to come out of the (Baker, Elio) and all the kids. Connor (Graham), they did such a special job. It was great to observe and watch the boys really have this special moment Dean (Robertson) has done an amazing job the last few years.
What did he think of the work done by Robertson, the GB&I captain?
“They bonded extremely well,” Poulter said. “They had a number of boys who came back from last year to this year. Dean had a great atmosphere in the team room this week. I was only there for a short time, but the buzz among the boys was very special. They took the course – it was a tough morning in difficult conditions, but to go out first in the singles this afternoon and put some blue on the board, and then look at the boy.”
What was the atmosphere when Hill won the Cup with a putt on the 18th hole?
“It was emotional,” Poulter said. “As a father, as a golf fan, I feel for everyone. I’ve been a little bit on the other side of it, and now to enjoy it and to watch them themselves, it means a lot for the whole team and for all the kids. It was a tough win today.”
Finally, has Poulter become more nervous to watch or play? He laughed.
“It’s not easy at all,” he said. “It’s not easy. Just a lot of pride, and proud of each of them. They did an amazing job this week.”
Everyone then made their way to the pub.
