Williams (16-5) welcomes former dual league
KSW master Roberto Soldic (21-4) to
Ultimate Fighting Championship when the pair meet Oct. 3 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. The match came together quickly for Williams, but she didn’t hesitate to accept it.
Kalinn Williams explains why Roberto Soldic’s reputation made the UFC 332 fight more attractive
In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Williams discussed how
UFC 332 the meeting took place just a few days before the announcement. He acknowledged the hype surrounding Soldic and sees the fight as an opportunity to add a big name to his record.
“Pretty much a couple of days ago,” Williams said. “Fighters fight, man. So it’s one of those things that just happened, man, and I just took a chance. I know he’s dangerous. I know what he’s capable of. I checked him and that’s why I took the fight. He got all that hype around, man. He’s dangerous. I mean, now, the resume that speaks for me now?”
Williams insisted, however, that Soldic’s reputation doesn’t scare him.
“I’m not afraid of anybody,” Williams added. “We all bleed the same, we all breathe the same, and we’re just finding out who wants it more. When all the hype, all the names, all the expectations, all that goes away, it’s just me and you. I know what I’m going to do.”
Williams is coming off a first-round TKO victory Nikolai Veretennikov in May. Meanwhile, Soldic went to One championship after leaving KSW fought three times in the Asia-based promotion before signing with the UFC.
