Game-changing JPL Warriors World Cup set for Friday kick off in Doha

October 21: Next month, Qatar will host the U-17 World Cup (Boys) at the Aspire Zone Complex in Doha (November 19 to December 13). Before that, the Junior Premier League (JPL) will play a two-day tournament at the Education City Stadium in Doha, starting this Friday, October 23.

The JPL Warriors World Cup is a women’s 7v7 tournament open to 2014, 2012, 2010 and open age teams across the region.
Delivered in partnership with the Qatar Foundation, it is now in its third year and has established itself as one of the most progressive women’s youth football tournaments in the world.

“What started as a regional celebration of women’s football has grown into a globally relevant platform, bringing together elite women’s teams from across the GCC. The Warriors World Cup is not only a celebration of the highest standards of women’s football, but a platform designed to empower girls and young women to express themselves, showcase their talents and develop their full potential,” organizers say, beyond the impact.

“Welcoming elite women’s teams from across the GCC is a powerful reflection of the growing credibility and ambition of the tournament,” said Martin Brock, CEO of the Junior Premier League. “But what matters most is the opportunity it creates: giving girls a global stage, a sense of belonging and the confidence to believe in what they can achieve.”

Held at the Education City Stadium, a venue used for the 2022 World Cup at the Education City Stadium, the event is part of the Qatar Foundation’s wider mission to encourage girls and young women to be more active, try new sports and develop the confidence to become agents of change.

“The Warriors World Cup reflects the values that are at the heart of the Qatar Foundation’s work. We believe that what girls build through sport, they carry into education, leadership and life,” said a QF spokesperson. “Education City provides a unique environment where girls can pursue their passions, challenge themselves and compete at the highest level. Hosting the Warriors World Cup here is a powerful expression of that belief.”

Founded in 2011 in England, the Junior Premier League operates in various territories including Europe, North America and the Middle East with the aim of providing competitive environments and development pathways for young players.
