9 October – Everton’s owner The Friedkin Group is looking for new major investors in the Premier League club.
On Friday, an Everton statement said: “The Friedkin Group is exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including the potential sale of a controlling stake.
“When the TFG became custodian of Everton, the club faced financial uncertainty and significant challenges both on and off the pitch. The immediate priority was to provide the stability, investment and support needed to secure the club’s future, including helping to complete the much-promised stadium for its much-deserved fans.
“With that foundation now secure, it is time to consider the next chapter for Everton. We only entertain interest from parties who we strongly believe will be the right stewards to take the club forward and build on the momentum that has been established.”
The Friedkin Group took over the Merseyside club two years ago. It ended the era of Farhad Moshiri’s ownership.
Under the new ownership, Everton abandoned their historic stadium, Goodison Park, and moved to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Liverpool’s seafront. The American group paid around 500 million pounds for the club.
The Friedkin Group, led by Texan billionaire Dan Friedkin, also owns AS Roma in Italy.
