Former
Ultimate Fighting Championship star Diego Sanchez was arrested in New Mexico on September 7.
According to court records, Sanchez was arrested in Socorro County on charges of aggravated DWI and violation of probation. The arrest comes months after Sanchez received probation in connection with a 2025 Albuquerque traffic incident in which investigators say he fired a gun into the air while stuck in traffic and yelled, “I love Albuquerque. I love the 505.”
Diego Sanchez faces aggravated DWI and probation violation charges in New Mexico
Per COBpolice were called to a Valero gas station north of Socorro on the afternoon of Sept. 7 after an employee reported a man had followed a woman into the restroom and knocked on the door.
Officers said they found Sanchez stumbling when they arrived. Police began a field sobriety test but stopped because they were concerned for his safety. The complaint states that Sanchez had difficulty maintaining balance and had difficulty following directions.
He was arrested on a charge of aggravated DWI and booked on a probation violation. Sanchez pleaded guilty to an earlier firearms incident and received five years of supervised probation in March.
“The only thing I can do is take responsibility, own it, you know, and spread positivity to the youth and the next generation to change these ways,” Sanchez said at the hearing.
Sanchez later violated the terms of his probation, including testing positive for alcohol and cocaine on June 16, court records state.
According to the latest reports, Sanchez spent the night in jail and appeared before a judge on the morning of September 8.
