14 October – Footballco has appointed Charlotte Thomson as head of women’s football and culture.
Thomson set up her own agency, The ONE10 Collective, working with clients including Glasgow City, Women’s Regional Leagues and the Women’s Sport Trust. He was previously in charge of women’s football for the Copa90.
At Footballco she will lead global strategy, content, commercial growth and branding for its women’s football brands. They include INDIVISA, Yalla Girl in the Middle East and Soccer Girl and No White Shorts in the US. It will also create new content formats and create new brands.
“Charlotte not only brings her experience of the content and strategy of women’s football to this role, but also a deep understanding of the culture surrounding the sport,” said Footballco President Stefano D’Anna.
“This is vital not only for our own growth, but also for our partners who value vision, authenticity and cultural relevance to engage this growing fandom.”
Women’s football is one of the fastest growing properties in sport, and the people best placed to understand its audience are increasingly the decision makers.
Thomson is looking beyond next summer’s tournament.
“While everyone is focused on next year’s Women’s World Cup, for us our investment goes far beyond the tournament,” he said. “INDVISA has always been about more than what happens on the pitch, so I’m looking forward to increasing the brand’s impact on culture, showcasing more diversity in our storytelling and continuing to champion the ‘More Women in Soccer’ mantra.”
